Why BTS Fans Gave J-Hope the Nickname ‘Seokie’

He’s your hope and you’re his hope. When it comes to J-Hope’s nicknames, fans have awarded him several based on his sunny disposition and immense talent. Here’s what we know about one nickname, “Seokie,” and why fans often call the BTS member by that name.

There may be seven members in BTS, but there’s only one J-Hope. He’s bubbly, energetic, and funny and he’s also a rapper, singer, songwriter, and dancer for the group, performing on award-winning songs like “Dynamite,” “Boy With Luv,” and “Life Goes On.” 

He’s also known for his love for the BTS ARMY, often sharing pictures and messages on social media platforms. When he’s not performing with BTS, J-Hope often releases solo music under the same stage name. 

That includes his mixtape, Hope World, and his single in collaboration with Becky G, titled “Chicken Noodle Soup.” (The music video for this song earned millions of views on YouTube in a matter of hours.) With over seven years of knowing this performer, this BTS member earned a few different nicknames from fans.

J-Hope’s real name is Jung Hoseok

Although some fans know him by his stage name, when he’s not performing, some know him by his birth name of Jung Hoseok. Because of his real name, fans (and other BTS members) often refer to this performer as “Hobi,” “Hoseokie,” and “Seokie.” (Not to be confused with “Kookie,” one of the nicknames of the youngest member of the group, Jungkook.)

The rapper even mentions this “alter-ego” in his solo song for Map of the Soul: 7, saying, “Life not of J-Hope but Jeong Ho-Seok flashes byIt must have been full of regret with no hope till I die,” according to a translation from Genius.

J-Hope earned a few other nicknames from BTS fans

Although he does have an official stage name, there are a few other nicknames awarded to J-Hope by the BTS ARMY. Because of his bright and often “sunny” disposition, some BTS fans nicknamed J-Hope “Sunshine.” Others often refer to him
