Rainn Wilson has a clever idea for bringing The Office back with a concept that definitely will get fans’ attention. Wilson pitched the idea to Steve Carell and, while Carell was receptive to the idea, he did find one flaw with the reunion plan.

During the Oct. 15 installment of Wilson’s IGTV series Hey There, Human, he chatted with Carell, with some of the conversation dedicated to The Office.
Carell, who famously played Michael Scott and Wilson, who played Dwight Schrute, reminisced about their time on the series as they explained why it still is such a loved show.
“I don’t know if you feel the same thing, but the people who watch the show definitely know the show better than we do,” Carell admitted. “Maybe we watched it once when we’d all get together and watch episodes. That was most of my watching of the show. So I don’t know all the details, and when people reference lines and bits … some of them don’t really ring a bell at all.”
He added, “It’s great that it caught on like it did, because we all felt that it was special when we were doing it.”

Wilson had a new idea for an ‘Office’ reunion
Wilson pitched the wildest idea for The Office reunion during their chat — a world in which he would play Michael and Carell would play Dwight.
Carell was more critical of his role in the reunion idea than he was of Wilson, believing his former co-star would do well at playing Michael but not quite as convinced that he could do Dwight justice.
“I could never … I think you’d do a great Michael Scott. I don’t think I could ever even get close to your Dwight Schrute,” Carell said.
Wilson didn’t agree, however, pointing to Carell’s acting chops.
