Trey Gowdy Joins Trump’s Legal Team to Fight Dems’ Impeachment Push

President Donald Trump is assembling a legal “dream team” to fight the Democrats’ impeachment circus.

As we know, Trump has the amazing pit bull Rudy Giuliani, who has done a remarkable job of defending the president against the deep-state vultures, in my view — and now President Trump is adding another lethal weapon to his team.

The world-famous debater and wordsmith Trey Gowdy is joining Trump’s legal team as outside counsel as the impeachment inquiry expands.

He stands ready to take on the Democrats, who are trying to impeach our America First president.

Gowdy is a former South Carolina lawmaker; he didn’t seek re-election last year to the seat he had held for eight years.

Gowdy served as chairman of the House Oversight Committee.

Significantly, he also led the investigation by Congress into former presidential candidate Hilary Clinton and the terrorist attacks in Benghazi, Libya.

Gowdy is a former federal prosecutor — and now that he’s left politics, he’s returned to his first love, which is the law.

Back in January of this year, The Greenville News shared more of Gowdy’s background: “Former U.S. Congressman Trey Gowdy, who elevated his profile in American politics leading several high-profile government investigations, has joined the Greenville office of power law firm Nelson, Mullins, Riley & Scarborough to take on a similar role.”

“The Spartanburg Republican’s eight-year congressional tenure ended Thursday, and Gowdy told The Greenville News he has no plans to return to politics, including as a government lobbyist.”

“There’s no way I’ll return to it,” Gowdy said, as the outlet noted, before he announced his new role at the firm. “I’m not going to lobby. And if I enjoyed politics, I wouldn’t be leaving.”

Gowdy’s new role will “hark back to his time as a criminal prosecutor and leading congressional investigations — most notably the Benghazi hearings that famously brought former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton to testify on Capitol Hill with Gowdy taking a lead role as de facto prosecutor,” the Greenville News also noted.

Gowdy has used his tremendous skills as a prosecutor to grill and skewer many people — one of my favorites was his back-and-forth with disgraced Trump-hating FBI official Peter Strozk.
