‘America’s Got Talent’ live shows: Did Danville teen woo the voters?

It’s getting down to crunch time on “America’s Got Talent” as the live performances begin at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood and the judging is finally handed over to the viewers.

Among the 12 finalists taking the stage Tuesday night was singer-rapper Sophie Pecora. The Danville 15-year-old has made it this far on the strength of two heartfelt — and inspiring — original songs about teen angst and grade-school bullying.

Tuesday, she changed things up a bit, delivering an original song called “Happy in LA.” The lyrics, which felt at least partially biographical, spoke of someone leaving behind their home to take a shot at fame in the city of stars.

“You’ve had too many hardships you can’t take,” Pecora sang. “You want more life in your life …”

All four “AGT” judges — Simon Cowell, Gabrielle Union, Howie Mandel and Julianne Hough — rose to their feet as Pecora finished off the performance. But will the voters agree? Did Pecora do enough to stay in the competition?

Only seven of the 12 acts will move on to the semifinals as five get eliminated. The results will be revealed during Wednesday night’s show on NBC.
