Texas Woman, 84, Charged With Husband’s Brutal Murder 35 Years After His Death

An 84-year-old Texas woman is being charged with the murder of her husband, over three decades after his death, RadarOnline.com has learned.

Norma Allbritton was charged on July 1, according to various outlets. Officials have found new details connecting her to Johnnie Allbritton‘s killing and are also investigating her in connection with her daughter’s 1981 death, which at the time, was deemed a suicide.

Norma’s husband, Johnnie Allbritton, was shot five times inside their home on May 14, 1984, Leon County Sheriff Kevin Ellis told reporters. At the time, Norma told police she came home with her child and found the front door locked. She then allegedly looked through a window, saw guns, and became concerned, so she called authorities.

Investigators found a bank bag containing thousands of dollars missing following the murder, and assumed Johnnie was killed during an armed robbery.

Norma initially cooperated with authorities, but two weeks after Johnnie’s death, she canceled a scheduled polygraph test, claiming she’d accidentally shot herself. The test was never rescheduled, and the case eventually went cold.

Three years earlier, Norma and Johnnie’s 13-year-old daughter, Pam Allbritton, was shot with a rifle inside the same home. Her death was declared a suicide at the time.

The case of Johnnie’s murder was reopened in 2015 when Leon County Sheriff Kevin Ellis reached out to Cold Justice producers and sent evidence from investigators. It will be featured on the upcoming Oxygen show episode.

“Through this investigation the suicide of her daughter has raised suspicion and we’re going to investigate that also,” Ellis said.

Norma was taken into custody but posted bail on July 3. It’s unclear whether she has an attorney or has entered a plea. No charges have been filed in her daughter’s mysterious death.
