Chris D’Elia brings his unfiltered brand of comedy to SF Bay Area

Comedian-actor Chris D’Elia is well-known to TV viewers.

Over the years, he’s appeared on the NBC sitcoms “Whitney” and “Undateable,” as well as on ABC’s “The Good Doctor” and Netflix’s “You.”

He’s also appeared in such recent films as “Half Magic,” “Little Evil,” “The Female Brain” and “Band Aid.”

He also finds time to do a weekly podcast, called “Congratulations with Chris D’Elia,” and record comedy specials, such as the recent “Man on Fire.”

Busy guy, right?

Yet, fortunately, the New Jersey native and longtime Los Angeles resident still finds time to tour and perform for the growing legion of fans who enjoy his unfiltered brand of stand-up comedy.

“It’s kind of just me, man,” D’Elia explained of his style of comedy in an interview with Las Vegas Magazine. “When I get up onstage what I want to do is I want to treat everybody like I’m hanging out with them and they’re my friends.

“That’s the hardest anyone ever laughs, when you’re out with your friends. You know what I mean? If I can make the audience feel that way, and I can feel that way, then it’s like we’re all just hanging out, you know? That to me is the most fun kind of standup. I don’t know how many comedians have that, but I definitely feel like I enjoy doing it that way.”

Catch D’Elia when he performs April 25 at the Fox Theater in Oakland.

Details: 8 p.m.; $25-$65,
