Brad Pitt helps Jennifer Aniston celebrate her 50th birthday

Nope, they’re not dating. And nope, they’re not on the path to getting back together, but Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt are friendly again, which is an accomplishment in itself considering their acrimonious split.

Pitt was among the Hollywood heavyweights to attend the 50th birthday party for his ex-wife over the weekend, and things went, well, OK, according to reports.

“They hugged and chatted for a bit, but Jen was busy making sure all of her other guests had an amazing time,” a source told People.

Aniston “didn’t really pay any special attention to Brad,” the source added.

The publication reported that the guest list also included George and Amal Clooney, Reese Witherspoon, Robert Downey Jr., Ellen DeGeneres, Barbara Streisand, Keith Richards, Kate Hudson, Laura Dern, Demi Moore, and Aniston’s “Friends” co-stars Courtney Cox and Lisa Kudrow.

Also in attendance were Aniston’s ex-boyfriend John Mayer, Mayer’s ex-girlfriend Katy Perry, Perry’s boyfriend Orlando Bloom, and Pitt’s ex-fiancee Gwyneth Paltrow. Everybody seemed to have played nice.

Pitt and Aniston were Hollywood’s it couple from 2000-05. He had struck it big with such films as “Fight Club,” “Se7en” and “Legends of the Fall,” and she was a star on equal footing with her on as Rachel Green on “Friends.”

But their seemingly storybook marriage came to an abrupt end after Pitt hooked up with his “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” co-star Angelina Jolie. Pitt and Jolie, who share six children together, married in 2014 but are in the middle of divorce proceedings.

The source that spoke with People said Pitt’s appearance at Aniston’s didn’t come out of left field.

“Basically, every single person who Jen loves attended,” the source said. “That included Brad. The party was a celebration of Jen’s life.”

“Brad, for long, was a very important part of Jen’s life,” the source also said. “She debated back and forth with friends if she should invite him. She was very happy that he showed up. Many of his close friends were at the party too.”

A source also spoke with E! News, saying, “Someone extended the invitation to Brad to come to Jen’s party and he accepted. He wanted to support Jen and it was a momentous occasion.”

Notably absent from the bash was Justin Theroux, Aniston’s husband from 2015-17. He did, however, wish Aniston well with an Instagram post on Monday.

“Happy Birthday to this fierce Woman,” he wrote. “Fiercely loving. Fiercely kind. ….and fiercely funny.”
