Cardi B says she and Offset have split: ‘We just grew out of love’

Cardi B announced on Instagram early Wednesday that she and her husband, fellow rapper Offset, have split up, five months after they had a baby daughter together.

“I’ve been trying to work things out with my baby’s father for a hot minute now,” the Bronx-born rapper said in a video posted early Wednesday morning New York time. “We’re really good friends and we’re really good business partners … but things just having (not) been working out between us for a long time.”

Cardi, 26, added, “It’s nobody’s fault.” She said, “I guess we just grew out of love, but we’re not together anymore.”

She added, “It might take time to get a divorce.”

The Migos rapper, also 26, commented on the Instagram post early Wednesday, writing just: “Y’all won.”

It was revealed in June that the couple had secretly wed in September 2017 at their Atlanta home, on the same day Offset spontaneously proposed. The wedding itself was pretty spontaneous, in that Offset woke up one morning and asked the “Bodack Yellow” singer for her hand. By the end of the day they were married in a ceremony that featured no engagement ring or wedding bands.

They welcomed their daughter Kulture Kiari Cephus on July 10. The unique name in part references Offset’s real name, Kiari Kendrell Cephus.

But the relationship has been rocky, in part because of their respective legal troubles. Just 10 days after Kulture was born, Offset was arrested in Georgia on felony gun charges after he and his bodyguard were pulled over outside Atlanta.

Meanwhile, Cardi B faces charges for assault and reckless endangerment over a fight that took place at a Queens strip club on Aug. 29, according to Page Six. During the fracas, she allegedly ordered members of her entourage to beat up waitresses at the club because she thought they had slept with Offset.
