‘BumbleBee’ trailer released; ‘Transformers’ spinoff filmed in Santa Cruz

Whether the “Transformers” movies are your thing or not it’s always fun to see Santa Cruz on the big screen, even if, in this case, the name has been changed to Brighton Falls.

In September, production crews took over parts of the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and changed signage to “Brighton Falls Boardwalk” for scenes in the Paramount Pictures film “Bumblebee.” Filming also took place on the Municipal Wharf.

The official teaser trailer for “BumbleBee,” starring Hailee Steinfeld and John Cena, was released today. The film is directed by Travis Knight. “BumbleBee” hits theatres this Christmas.
