The boyfriend of Morgan Freeman‘s 33-year-old step granddaughter was convicted Monday of manslaughter for her fatal 2015 stabbing, but escaped the more serious charge of second-degree murder.
Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Ellen Biben found Lamar Davenport, 33, guilty of stabbing E’Dena Hines 25 times outside the couple’s New York City apartment in 2015.
Defense attorneys argued that Davenport was in a drug-induced psychosis during the brutal slaying, brought on by his use of PCP. They presented a witness, who testified at the trial that during the attack Davenport repeatedly screamed, “I love you. I always loved you. God would have wanted this.”

Davenport now faces 25 years in prison.
The brutal slaying of Hines was not the only scandal to mark her tragic life. Years before her death, RadarOnline.com learned exclusively she and her step-grandfather Freeman were accused of having an affair!
As Radar reported, during the trial text messages hinting at the illicit relationship were revealed.
On July 3, 2015, about six weeks before she was killed Hines texted Davenport to discuss some problems she was having in their rocky relationship, and the outside influence of an older gentleman.

In response, Davenport wrote, “When it comes to…your grandfather, there’s a submissive love that will always be there.”
At Davenport’s trial, his lawyers went a step further, asserting that Hines “disclosed to Lamar Davenport and others that her grandfather engaged in a sexually inappropriate relationship with her.”
Davenport reportedly sat stoic as the verdict was handed down.
