Concert announcement: Kathy Griffin brings tour to Vancouver this June

Kathy Griffin will share with Vancouver how the infamous photo came to be and the fallout that ensued in her Laugh Your Head Off tour later this summer.

Griffin will bring her two-hour set to Vancouver’s Orpheum Theatre on Saturday, June 2.

It is her first set of North American dates since the controversy over Griffin’s video of a Donald Trump-esque effigy, shared to her Instagram and Twitter account in May 2017. The video, filmed during a photo shoot with known shock photographer Tyler Shields, shows Griffin holding a bloodied mask resembling Trump’s head.

Members of the Trump family slammed the comedian for the photo. Griffin was removed as CNN’s New Year’s Eve co-host, dropped from marketing contracts and many of her tour dates were cancelled. The comedian had also received a number of death threats following the photo, she has revealed.

Griffin apologized but later retracted her apologize, claiming she was under investigation by the Justice Department and had been placed on the no-fly list in the meantime. Many of Griffin’s 2017 performances were overseas; the latest set of dates will be her first time performing in North America since the photo’s backlash.

“Donald Trump will not survive the live and hilarious indictment I will be bringing down on his orange head. Did I say head?” said Griffin in a statement announcing the tour.

“You’re gonna get the whole story. We will talk about the photo that sparked a conversation around the world, how my mom Maggie still watches Fox News and thinks I might be in ISIS, and hell, I’ll even walk you through my interrogation by the feds. You’re not gonna get that story anywhere else.”

Additional dates will be announced at a later date. Pre-sale tickets are on sale now at Ticketmaster, while regular sale begins next week.
