Yefim ‘Mr. Fortissimo’ Bronfman ready to show more delicate side in SF

When brawny, muscular keyboard works are on the program, Yefim Bronfman is high on the list of the guys to call (author Philip Roth, in his novel, “The Human Stain,” described the pianist as “Mr. Fortissimo.”)

Yet Bronfman — “Fima” to his friends and fans — is also a musician of great sensitivity and insight. He returns to Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco for a solo piano recital this weekend, in a program that includes Prokofiev’s Sonata No. 7 and Debussy’s “Suite Bergamasque,” along with two Schumann works: the composer’s beguiling Arabesque in C Major and the Humoreske in B-flat Major.

Details: 7:30 p.m. Feb. 18; $35-$99; 415-864-6000,
