Things continue to look frosty between Donald and Melania Trump, especially since revelations about his alleged porn star affair came to light last month. And on Monday, the president’s latest attempt at a public display of affection and unity was again rebuffed by the First Lady.
The first couple were spotted leaving the White House for Ohio on Marine One. A clip from NBC News showed the president reaching for his wife’s right hand — and failing to connect.

In the bumbling moment, Trump instead got a handful of her coat sleeve. That’s because the First Lady wore her yellow Ralph Lauren coat draped over her shoulders.
Then again, she often has her coat draped over her shoulders. Like her sunglasses and stiletto heels, this way of wearing her coat has become another of Melania Trump’s signature looks — maybe because it provides a bulwark against unwanted handholding, as some on Twitter have noted.

But the draped coat strategy didn’t stop him from putting his arm around her as they approached the helicopter.
Monday’s awkward moment follows several weeks of Melania Trump making moves that were perceived by Trump critics and others on social media as her putting a distance between her and the president.
Given the humiliation she may have suffered by the widely reported allegations involving porn star Stormy Daniels, critics like Bill Palmer of the Palmer Report wondered if Melania Trump’s moves have been subtle but highly public acts of revenge.
After a couple weeks of keeping a low-profile in the wake of the Daniels news, a reportedly “furious” and “blindsided” Melania Trump abruptly bailed on accompanying the president on his trip to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
She cited scheduling issues, but those scheduling issues turned out to be a previously unscheduled visit to the Holocaust Memorial Museum, followed by a whirlwind two-day trip to her husband’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, where she reportedly visited the spa. That spa trip, incidentally, cost U.S. taxpayers an estimated $64,000 in air travel costs, according to a New York Times report.
For last …
