Hand-painted banners raise $4,500 for more art at Brentwood library

BRENTWOOD — The public art that some local residents created has raised about $4,500 to decorate the new library Brentwood will be getting.

Dozens of hand-painted banners that brightened light poles in the city’s downtown this summer were auctioned off a couple of months ago, and the proceeds from those 68 original works will go toward providing the library that’s currently under construction with more public art.

So successful was this first fundraiser of its kind — a partnership between the city and Art Guild of the Delta — that organizers are planning to make it an annual event.
