Here are the pet and animal-related events in the Bay Area on Dec. 8 and beyond

EAST BAY
Wild@Night: Blizzards, Birds & Brews!: Enjoy a special evening surrounded by Lindsay’s animal ambassadors. The adults only event includes beer and wine, food, games, and an ugliest holiday sweater contest. And help name the newest animal ambassador, a white-tailed kite. 6-9 p.m. Dec. 8. Free Vaccines and Exams for Veterans’ Pets: ARF’s Mobile Clinic will be at the VA Northern California Health Care System to administer free vaccines and wellness checks for the pets of veterans. All services first-come, first served. Must present military ID. 8:30-11 a.m. (or until full) Dec. 8 and Dec. 23. 150 Muir Road, Martinez.
Wonderful Winter Wildlife: Children 2-5 years-old explore a variety of age-appropriate craft and activity stations at their own pace at this drop-in program. Observe demonstrations and hands-on presentations with animal ambassadors. 10 a.m.-noon Dec. 11. Lindsay Wildlife Experience, 1931 First Ave., Walnut Creek. $10 for first child ($20 nonmembers), $6 for each additional child ages 2 and older. Children under 2 are free with one paid admission. Children must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.
Junior Volunteers: For pet-loving youth, 12-15, who want to make a difference but are below the minimum age requirements for the regular volunteer program. Junior volunteers gain valuable experience working a Cat Care shift alongside the Humane Education team, feeding and cleaning in Kitty City. Full training is provided. 3:30-5 p.m. Thursdays, (Orientation day is 3:30-5:30 p.m.) Dec. 14, 21, Jan. 11. Valley Humane Society, 3670 Nevada St., Pleasanton. $100 per session.
