You’d think that after 76 years, Red Rocks would take a year off, maybe take a trip to Europe to find itself and see if it still wanted to be an amphitheater for another 76 years.
But alas, bands wait years to step on its stage, and even though the venue’s schedule grows by the year, you can’t take a holiday when you’ve got Barenaked Ladies knocking down your door.
And so, with the 2017 season in the books, the first five shows of Red Rocks’ 2018 schedule trickled out to this week. Below: who’s playing the hardest working venue in Colorado in 2018 so far.
Barenaked Ladies, who plays the venue on June 19 ($43-$85, on sale Nov. 17 at 10 a.m. via axs.com), is packing a ’90s nostalgia hit, playing with the likes of Better Than Ezra and KT Turnstall–along for the ride.
On May 3, dramatic New York pop outfit X Ambassadors–($25-$40, on sale Nov. 17 at 10 a.m. via axs.com) is scheduled to rock the Rocks.
For hip-hop heads, Icelantic’s Winter on the Rocks returns on Jan. 26 with Mac Miller and Jauz leading the charge ($45.75-$66.75, on sale now via axs.com). In the spring, 4/20 Eve on the Rocks will bring duo Method Man & Redman as well as 311–($55-$150, on sale Nov. 17 at 10 a.m. via axs.com)—on April 19.
Later in the summer, Brandi Carlile will tour behind her new album, “By The Way, I Forgive You,” including a stop in Morrison on Aug. 12 ($48.50-$125, on sale now via axs.com).
And finally, announced today, One Direction member Niall Horan–will bring his solo album, “Flicker,” to the amphitheater on Aug. 20 ($47-$107, on sale Nov. 20 at 10 a.m. via livenation.com).
